A bill to amend 1953 PA 232, entitled “Corrections code of 1953,” by amending sections 33, 33c, 34, and 35 (MCL 791.233, 791.233c, 791.234, and 791.235), sections 33 and 34 as amended by 2019 PA 14, section 33c as added by 1994 PA 217, and section 35 as amended by 2019 PA 13.
Creates system of productivity time credits in state prisons. 20 days for each month enrolled in educational or vocational program. 90 days for completing MDOC recommended program that does not lead to GED or other academic credential. 120 days for earning GED, HS diploma, or higher ed degree. Participants are ineligible to receive credits in any month they are found to have committed major misconduct, scored very high risk on most recent validated risk and needs assessment, or assigned to category V or VI housing unit. Maximum total credit allowed is the lesser of 20% of minimum sentence.
