A bill to make, supplement, and adjust appropriations for various state departments and agencies for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2023; to provide for certain conditions on appropriations; and to provide for the expenditure of the appropriations.
Proposes a $50,000,000 appropriation from the Michigan state general fund for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2023, to the Department of Health and Human Services. This funding is designated for a one-time appropriation to an alternatives to abortion program aimed at providing comprehensive pregnancy support services to promote childbirth over abortion. The program includes counseling, material assistance, referrals to social services, care-coordination, call centers for information and scheduling, and housing through maternity homes. It extends support to pregnant women, their families, and adoptive parents, offering services up to 90 days post-miscarriage, 2 years post-adoption, and 3 years postpartum.
