A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled “The revised school code,” (MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1146a.
Mandates that public schools ensure the use of multiple-occupancy restrooms or changing areas by individuals based solely on their biological sex, as stated on their original birth certificates. Exceptions are made for specific circumstances such as custodial, maintenance, medical assistance, or when an individual is assisting or being assisted by authorized personnel or caregivers. The definition of "multiple-occupancy restroom or changing area" encompasses areas designed for use by more than one pupil at a time, including restrooms, locker rooms, changing rooms, or shower rooms.
