A bill to require original equipment manufacturers of certain agricultural equipment to make certain parts, tools, and documentation available to certain persons; to provide remedies; and to provide for the powers and duties of certain state governmental officers and entities.
Mandates original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of electronics-enabled agricultural equipment to provide independent repair providers and owners with the necessary parts, tools, and documentation for diagnosis, maintenance, or repair on fair and reasonable terms. This includes making available software updates and means to bypass electronic security locks for repair purposes, while ensuring trade secrets are protected.
