An act to provide for the statewide coordination of meaningful language access to state services by individuals with limited English proficiency; to provide for the powers and duties of certain state governmental officers and entities; and to establish a process for submitting complaints and obtaining remedies for lack of meaningful language access and for denials of meaningful language access based on one’s national origin.
House Bill 4721 would require state departments, agencies, and entities to take reasonable steps to provide individuals with limited English proficiency with access to state services and require biennial reports on equal language access. House Bill 4720 would provide for statewide coordination of equal access to state services by individuals with limited English proficiency and create a process for submitting complaints and obtaining remedies for lack of equal language access or denial of equal access based on national origin.
