A bill to amend 1954 PA 116, entitled “Michigan election law,” (MCL 168.1 to 168.992) by adding section 509y.
Outlines a process where, if a juror qualifications questionnaire is returned as undeliverable or with a different address than the one on file, the county clerk must notify the secretary of state. The secretary of state will then verify if the individual is a registered voter and, if so, send a notice about the address discrepancy along with a prepaid return card for address verification or correction. If the voter does not respond with corrected information 30 days before an election, they may need to affirm their current address to vote. Failure to vote in the period up to the second November election following the notice will result in the cancellation of the voter's registration and removal from the qualified voter file.
