A bill to amend 1967 PA 281, entitled “Income tax act of 1967,” (MCL 206.1 to 206.847) by adding section 677.
Proposes an amendment to the Income Tax Act of 1967. This amendment, referred to as the "Make it in Michigan credit," allows taxpayers to claim a credit equal to 50% of the amount paid on qualified student loans for employees who graduated from a Michigan high school or received a higher education degree from a Michigan institution and remained or relocated to Michigan for employment. The credit is capped at 20% of the average yearly tuition of a public university in Michigan and requires taxpayers to provide proof of payment.
