A bill to amend 1927 PA 175, entitled “The code of criminal procedure,” by amending section 12e of chapter XVII (MCL 777.12e), as amended by 2011 PA 59.

House Fiscal Agency Analysis

This bill would amend the sentencing guidelines in the Code of Criminal Procedure to provide that (as proposed by SB 617) a moving violation causing serious injury to the operator of an implement of husbandry or a vulnerable roadway user is a class E violation against a person with a maximum term of imprisonment of five years, and a moving violation causing death to the operator of an implement of husbandry or (as proposed by SB 617) a vulnerable roadway user is a class C violation against a person with a maximum term of imprisonment of 15 years.
