A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled “Natural resources and environmental protection act,” by amending section 11525a (MCL 324.11525a), as amended by 2023 PA 140.
Proposes a surcharge on landfill and coal ash impoundment operators, varying by waste type, with a general rate of 72 cents per ton for most waste and a reduced rate for specific industrial wastes. From January 1, 2029, these rates will be adjusted every five years based on the Consumer Price Index.
