A bill to amend 2002 PA 687, entitled “Born alive infant protection act,” by amending sections 1 and 3 (MCL 333.1071 and 333.1073).
SB 110 mandates immediate medical care for newborns born alive following an abortion, with requirements for informing the mother. It introduces felony charges for health care providers who fail to provide immediate care and outlines procedures for the custody and care of the newborn, including confidentiality of the parents' identity under the safe delivery of newborns law. SB 111 adjusts sentencing guidelines.
