A bill to amend 1975 PA 238, entitled “Child protection law,” by amending section 7 (MCL 722.627), as amended by 2022 PA 68.
Safeguards the confidentiality of reports, documents, or photographs filed under this act, restricting access to designated entities such as child protective agencies, law enforcement, physicians treating suspected abuse or neglect, and those authorized for child protective custody. It expands access to courts, grand juries, research projects, lawyer-guardian ad litems, licensed child placing agencies, and other entities like foster care review boards, children's advocacy centers, and tribal representatives for child welfare purposes, while protecting the anonymity of reporters and privacy of personal information.
