Economic development: other; critical industry program and Michigan strategic site readiness program; revise, and create Michigan 360 program.

A bill to amend 1984 PA 270, entitled “Michigan strategic fund act,” by amending sections 9, 88s, and 88t (MCL 125.2009, 125.2088s, and 125.2088t), section 9 as amended and section 88s as added by 2021 PA 136, and section 88t as added by 2021 PA 134, and by adding section 88u.

Mackinac Center Analysis

Creates the Michigan 360 program, which would receive 50% of the money placed in the Make it in Michigan fund. The Michigan 360 program would give money to support local development projects run by local governments and nonprofits in areas that receive business subsidies. The bill also changes nonmandatory criteria that administrators are to judge to determine eligibility for Make it in MIchigan business subsidy programs.
