A bill to amend 1976 PA 388, entitled “Michigan campaign finance act,” by amending sections 52, 52a, and 69 (MCL 169.252, 169.252a, and 169.269), section 52 as amended by 2015 PA 269 and sections 52a and 69 as amended by 2013 PA 252; and to repeal acts and parts of acts.
Adjusts contribution limits for individuals and committees to candidate committees, based on the office sought and the district's population, setting individual contribution limits between $500 and $3,400, and allowing independent committees to contribute up to 10 times the individual limit, with specific exemptions for house and senate political party caucus committees during primaries. Contributions from a candidate's immediate family are capped at $50,000 per election cycle, with further stipulations for gubernatorial candidates exceeding $340,000 in family contributions.
