A bill to require notices and warnings if certain products contain certain chemicals; to provide for the powers and duties of certain state governmental officers and entities; and to provide for civil sanctions and remedies.
HB 5657 creates the Hazardous Products Act, granting the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy regulatory power over products containing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). It also bans individuals, local governments, and state agencies from using firefighting foam that contains PFAS.
