A bill to amend 1978 PA 454, entitled “Truth in renting act,” (MCL 554.631 to 554.641) by adding section 4a.
This amendment requires the state court administrative office, in consultation with the Michigan State Housing Development Authority, to create a form within 90 days of the bill's enactment. This form is to summarize tenants' rights under various Michigan laws and provide a list of legal resources for tenants alleging rental agreement violations. The summary must be presented in 12-point boldface type, with specific rights related to domestic violence, criminal sexual conduct, or stalking highlighted in 14-point boldface type. The form is to be made available in the state court administrative office and online. Additionally, starting 60 days after the form's creation, it must be attached to lease agreements and posted in common areas of rental premises.
