A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled “The insurance code of 1956,” (MCL 500.100 to 500.8302) by adding section 3406pp.
This bill requires health insurance policies in Michigan to cover treatments for pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders associated with streptococcal infections (PANDAS) and pediatric acute-onset neuropsychiatric syndrome (PANS), including treatments such as intravenous immunoglobulin therapy. The bill specifies that this requirement applies to health insurance policies delivered, issued for delivery, or renewed within the state, as well as policies covering Michigan residents issued outside the state, starting 90 days after the bill is enacted into law.
