Mackinac Center Analysis

House Bill 5785 proposes to replace three public members on the Michigan board of psychology with licensed psychologists. The current board has four public members and two psychologists; the proposed reconstituted board would have only one public member and five psychologists.

It would also create a new limited license to practice psychology to an applicant with at least a master's degree in psychology plus at least 4,000 hours of supervised postgraduate experience in an organized health care setting or other arrangement.
