A bill to amend 1986 PA 182, entitled “State police retirement act of 1986,” by amending sections 3, 4, 14, and 70 (MCL 38.1603, 38.1604, 38.1614, and 38.1670), sections 3, 4, and 14 as amended and section 70 as added by 2018 PA 674, and by adding sections 14b and 24c.
House Bills 6032 and 6033 allows certain state employees to switch retirement systems, introduces specific election periods, and modifies existing retirement laws to facilitate this transition as well as redefining membership, adjusting compensation calculations, establishing separate contribution rates for certain positions, and allowwing service credit purchases, with a focus on addressing unfunded liabilities by 2038.
