2024 House Resolution 315

A resolution of tribute for the Honorable Robert J. Bezotte.

Whereas, For serving this legislative body with great commitment, we commend and thank Representative Robert J. Bezotte. He has worked diligently for four years on behalf of the residents of first the Forty-seventh and now the Fiftieth Districts in Livingston County and the entire state of Michigan; and

Whereas, Representative Bezotte had long dedicated himself to public safety and security before he became a legislator in 2020. He served honorably in Vietnam before beginning a career with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office. For a decade, he left to be Director of Security for Domino’s Pizza before returning to work for the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, which ultimately included serving as Livingston County Sheriff from 2005 to 2016. He also developed his leadership skills at Eastern Michigan University’s School of Police Staff and Command and the FBI National Academy at the University of Virginia; and

Whereas, During his service in the Legislature, Representative Bezotte drew upon his education and experience while serving as Vice Chair of the Committee on Military, Veterans and Homeland Security, as well as serving on the Committees on Communications and Technology; Insurance and Financial Services; Local Government and Municipal Finance; and Criminal Justice. Drawing upon his record of honorable service to this nation, he championed the creation of the Michigan Vietnam Veteran Recognition Certificate to recognize those who served our country in the fight for freedom; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the House of Representatives, That we thank Representative Robert J. Bezotte for his service to his district, the Michigan House of Representatives, and the state of Michigan; and be it further

Resolved, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to Representative Bezotte and his family as a sign of our esteem for his contributions to this body and our appreciation for his service to his district and the state of Michigan.
