A bill to amend 1927 PA 175, entitled “The code of criminal procedure,” by amending section 12m of chapter XVII (MCL 777.12m), as amended by 2019 PA 134.
SB 683 expands regulations on dangerous animals to include potentially dangerous and dangerous dogs, imposes strict requirements and penalties on owners, mandates registration and insurance, and allows local governments to enact similar ordinances. SB 684 creates a new felony for "failure to comply with provisions regarding potentially dangerous dogs or dangerous dogs" with a 4-year maximum prison sentence.
