A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled “The insurance code of 1956,” by amending section 2434 (MCL 500.2434), as added by 1986 PA 173.
SB 821 would require the state insurance director to establish malpractice insurance rating classifications for physicians after consulting with physician associations and authorized malpractice insurers. It also mandates that insurers provide the Department of Health and Human Services with information on medical malpractice insurance policies related to perinatal care services upon request. The enactment of this bill is contingent upon the passage of Senate Bill No. 818 of the 102nd Legislature.
