A bill to amend 2001 PA 142, entitled “Michigan memorial highway act,” (MCL 250.1001 to 250.2092) by adding section 11d.
HB 4046, 4047 and 4048 creates the "Protection from Intimate Deep Fakes Act" which allows for a civil action for the creation or dissemination of a deep fake (a video recording, sound recording, electronic image, or photograph so real that a reasonable person could construe this was the actual individual) that is done without the person's consent. The other bills establish sentencing guidelines for violating the act and articulates the process for filing a civil lawsuit.
