A bill to amend 1978 PA 454, entitled “Truth in renting act,” by amending sections 3 and 4 (MCL 554.633 and 554.634), section 3 as amended by 1998 PA 72.
Senate Bills 19, 20 and 21 amend existing real estate law to strengthen tenant rights by mandating timely repairs by landlords, allowing tenants to withhold rent or make repairs if landlords fail to act, and prohibiting retaliation against tenants who exercise these rights.
