2001 House Bill 4717 ↩
House Roll Call 156:
Passed
To improve certain provisions of a law passed in the previous legislature which streamlined and accelerated the process by which a property owner with delinquent property taxes can have his land taken and resold by the government. This bill is part of a 11-bill legislative package (HB 4708 - HB 4718) which seeks to correct some of the problems that arose under the new law. Specifically, this bill gives greater flexibility and discretion to local officials to stop or slow down the condemnation process, such as when a property owner is acting in good faith to correct a tax deficiency, makes an appeal based on financial hardship, or is appealing a higher tax rate.
