House Roll Call 741:
Passed
To reduce the 30 percent Wayne County Metropolitan Airport parking tax to 15 percent, and dedicate most of the revenue for airport security, with the remainder going to Wayne County. The reduced tax is expected to yield approximately $8 million a year, of which $5 million will support the issuance of $60 million in state bonds. The bond revenue will enable the state to bring in $160 in federal matching funds each year, and these plus state and local money will ultimately provide $1 billion for a statewide airport safety and protection plan (ASAP).
