To authorize two alternative energy renaissance zones dedicated to the support, research, development, enhancement, and manufacturing of alternative energy technology, with a duration of renaissance zone status for no more than 20 years. One zone would be on four parcels of state-owned land located in York Township (Washtenaw County) comprising approximately 724 acres, which previously had been used for hospitalization of mentally ill patients. The other could be designated by the Michigan Strategic Fund Board, and must be dedicated for certain alternative energy.
