2001 House Bill 4454 ↩
Senate Roll Call 671:
Passed
To reduce the 30 percent Wayne County Metropolitan Airport parking tax to 15 percent, and reserve $6 million of the revenue for statewide airport security, $2 million for the City of Romulus where the airport is located, and the remainder to Wayne County for health care services. The reduced tax is expected to yield approximately $8 million a year. The $6 million airport security money will support the issuance of $60 million in state bonds. The bond revenue will enable the state to bring in $160 in federal matching funds each year, and these plus state and local money will ultimately provide $1 billion for a statewide airport safety and protection plan (ASAP).
