To allow certain smaller counties to pay a higher salary to probate judges who agree to be full time judges, to participate in the new system of concurrent jurisdictions (between district, circuit, and probate courts), participate in the new family court system, and agree not to engage in the practice of law other than as a judge. The bill also would allow for the possible realignment of the first probate district (Baraga, Houghton, and Keweenaw Counties).
