2003 House Bill 4677 ↩
House Roll Call 282:
Passed
To allow all dependant children of public school retirees to receive medical and dental insurance benefits under the school pension plan. Under current law, children of divorced retirees are not eligible for benefits unless the retiree provides at least 51 percent of the child’s living expenses. The bill would eliminate a requirement that the child be claimed as a dependent on the retiree’s income tax, and instead require the retiree to provide proof that the child is his or her legal child, that the retiree is divorced, and the other parent claims the child as a dependent.
