To prohibit the disposal of more than “de minimis” quantities of beverage containers in Michigan landfills. “De minimis” is defined as “incidental disposal of small amounts commingled with other solid waste.” in Michigan landfills. The bill would also require the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to submit a monthly report to the legislature describing how much solid waste was imported into the state, and an annual report with recommendations on how to reduce it.
