2004 Senate Bill 981 ↩
House Roll Call 329:
Passed
To extend to certified nurse practitioners the authority to issue the medical certification required to obtain a handicap parking sticker or placard. Also, to require that the handicap windshield parking placard issued bear only the first letter and the last three digits of the disabled person’s driver’s license or state I.D. number. The bill is part of a legislative package comprised of Senate Bills 979 to 989 that extend to nurses and/or certified nurse practitioners the authority to conduct physical examinations mandated by various statutes, which under current law must be conducted by a physician. A nurse practitioner is a type of nurse who has advanced training beyond that required for initial licensure and who has demonstrated competency through examinations.
