To revise and update the law that governs commercial motor vehicle and driver licensing, traffic offenses, and penalties. The bill contains new traffic violations for commercial drivers, modified penalties, amended licensing procedures, and enhanced conviction record keeping. It is intended to bring the state of Michigan into compliance with the requirements of the federal Motor Carrier Safety Improvement Act of 1999 (MCSIA), in order to qualify for certain federal money.
