2006 House Bill 6137 ↩
Senate Roll Call 822:
Passed
To authorize a “Support Our Troops” specialty license plate, with the net premium revenue going to the "Support Our Troops Inc." organization, which is reportedly promoting the creation of similar license plates in most states. The bill also contains an earlier proposal from the Secretary of State to revise the fund-raising specialty license plate program for nonprofit organizations, which would require, among other things, an organization wanting to sponsor a plate to make a nonrefundable upfront payment of $15,000 to cover programming, layout and other startup costs. It would also require minimum sales levels of 2,000 plates in the first year, and 500 new plates (not renewals) in each additional year, or production of the plate would be dropped. Legislative approval would still be needed for any new specialty plates.
