2007 Senate Bill 654 ↩
House Roll Call 114:
Passed
To establish that only citizens or resident-aliens with lawful status would be allowed to get a Michigan state identification card, and limit the forms of identification accepted from the latter to non-foreign documents (such as Social Security cards) and/or official passports or visas. The bill would allow (but not require) the Secretary of State to validate Social Security numbers in real-time before issuing an ID card. It would also make the the expiration date of a non-citizen's ID card the date when the person’s authorized stay in the U.S. expires.
