2008 House Bill 5600 ↩
House Roll Call 76:
Passed
To revise the definition of a "renewable energy facility" eligible for extensive renaissance zone tax breaks to include a facility that researches, produces materials for or creates energy directly or fuel from wind; solar; trees; grasses; biosolids; algae; agricultural commodities or residues from agricultural processes, wood or forest processes, or from the paper products industry; solid biomass; biosolids; animal wastes; landfills or materials captured from landfills. The term would also include a facility that focuses on research, development, or manufacturing of systems or components of systems used to create energy or fuel from the items described above (as determined by the board of the Michigan Strategic Fund). The bill would also to allow the local government in which any renaissance zone is located to petition the Michigan Strategic Fund for an extension of the duration of the zone, and would authorize some additional renaissance zones and zones expansions.
