2008 Senate Bill 1277 ↩
Senate Roll Call 435:
Passed
To require the advice and consent of the Senate for gubernatorial appointments to the workers' compensation qualifications advisory committee. This committee examines applicants for the position of worker's compensation magistrate to determine whether they are qualified. These magistrates resolve disputes regarding compensation for workplace injuries. The bill would also change the number of committee members from six to 10; change a quorum of the Committee from four to six; require the governor to fill vacancies on the committee for the remainder of the unexpired term and to appoint a committee member to serve as the chairperson; and allow, rather than require, committee members to be reimbursed for necessary expenses, subject to available appropriations.
