To create a state trial court funding commission tasked with reviewing and recommending changes to the state’s trial court funding system in light of the Michigan Supreme Court’s ruling in People v Cunningham, which raised questions about the extent to which the state can impose court and prosecution costs on a defendant that bear no direct relation to the case but cover the day-to-day functions of the prosecutor, law enforcement, or other governmental unit.
