To waive community service duty imposed on individuals with liability for outstanding “driver responsibility fees” (“bad driver tax”) who could not afford to pay them. Senate Bill 609 would abolish the fees effective Sept. 30, 2018 and provide partial amnesty. These very expensive fees were originally <a href="http://www.michiganvotes.org/2003-SB-509">adopted in 2003</a> to increase state revenue collections.
