Introduced
by
To eliminate the requirement that local health departments must periodically inspect campgrounds and public swimming pools which are subject to permit and licensing requirements, and instead say in statute that they “may” inspect. Also, to authorize health departments to charge the facility for the cost of the inspection.
Referred to the Committee on Health Policy
Substitute offered
by
To replace the previous version of the bill with one that imposes fees on commercial swimming pools. See House-passed version for details.
The substitute passed by voice vote
Passed in the House 57 to 47 (details)
To impose new construction permit fees and annual license fees on public swimming pools, water parks, and campgrounds; and allow designated local health departments to collect additional fees. The construction fee for a new campground would be $600, and $225 for modifications to an existing one. The construction fee for a new swimming pool would be $550 to $1,800 depending on the size, and $275 for modifications to an existing pool. The initial license fee for a pool would be another $550 to $1,000, and for campgrounds another $75 to $500, depending on the size. The bill would impose some $700,000 in additional costs on public pools and campgrounds.
Referred to the Committee on Appropriations
Reported without amendment
With the recommendation that the substitute (S-1) be adopted and that the bill then pass.
Passed in the Senate 27 to 10 (details)
