Referred to the Committee on Agriculture, Forestry, and Tourism

May 31, 2005

Reported without amendment

With the recommendation that the substitute (S-2) be adopted and that the bill then pass.

June 2, 2005

Substitute offered

To replace the previous version of the bill with one that requires the Broadband Development Authority to provide that at least 55 percent of the loans it issues go to "rural underserved areas," defined as a county with a population under 70,000 in areas of the state "having the greatest need for broadband development." This would not apply if there were not sufficient qualified applications for the money.
