To allow a court to order reimbursement for a landlord’s own labor when making repairs to property damaged by an evicted tenant. Under current law a landlord can seek damages for the cost of paying a contractor to do the work. The bill would allow reimbursement from the tenant at the same rate the landlord would have to pay to hire someone else to do the repairs, within reason. It would also allow reimbursement in a similar manner for labor expended by a tenant doing repairs a landlord had been ordered to perform.
