The House version of a Fiscal Year (FY) 2008-2009 community colleges budget. This would appropriate $310.6 million in gross spending, compared to $318.9 million, which was the FY 2007-2008 amount enrolled in 2007. All of this comes from the general fund (funded by actual state tax revenues). Note: The FY 2007-2008 budget was inflated by the inclusion of a delayed disbursement from the previous year’s budget. Gov. Granholm's executive recommendation for this budget is (see <a href="http://www.michiganvotes.org/2009-SB-1142">Senate Bill 1142</a>). The budget would increase grants to community colleges by 2.4 percent to 3.9 percent depending on the school, and adds $7 million for nursing education programs.
