The Senate version of a Fiscal Year (FY) 2008-2009 community colleges budget. This would appropriate $302.2 million in gross spending, compared to $318.9 million, which was the FY 2007-2008 amount enrolled in 2007. All of this comes from the general fund (funded by actual state tax revenues). Note: The FY 2007-2008 budget was inflated by the inclusion of a delayed disbursement from the previous year’s budget. Gov. Granholm's executive recommendation for this budget is (see <a href="http://www.michiganvotes.org/2009-SB-1142">Senate Bill 1142</a>). The budget would increase grants to community colleges by 2.4 percent to 3.9 percent depending on the school.

This would appropriate $299.3 million in gross spending, compared to $318.9 million, which was the FY 2007-2008 amount enrolled in 2007 (that amount included a $25 million delayed disbursement from the previous year’s appropriation). This budget is all general fund money (funded by actual state tax revenues). Overall operations funding grants to community colleges would rise by 2 percent, with each school’s share determined by a political formula.
